File Upload & File Types

Uploading files to AdviceOS

Midwinter has recently improved AdviceOS to allow Users to upload files into their client's profile by simply dragging and dropping these into the suitable location, rather than having to locate these files from the file directory and selecting them.

You can also select multiple files at once and drag all of these into the drag and drop files here box to upload all files in a single process rather than having to individually select these documents.

This functionality is available in all areas of AdviceOS where documents can be uploaded, including:
  1. Client > Client Records > Documents
  2. Send Email dialog box
  3. Create File Note dialog box
  4. Create Task dialog box
  5. Create New Template dialog box

While the Drag & Drop functionality is currently only available within AdviceOS, our Product team are currently working on making this functionality available within Digital Portal as well to allow both a User and their client's the ability to drag and drop files into the Client Portal

Uploading to Client Records > Documents

When uploading a file to the Client Records > Documents section of AdviceOS, the drag and drop space will not be visible until you have selected the appropriate folder that you want the file to be uploaded to. This is because all files uploaded to a clients profile must be allocated to a specific folder before being added to AdviceOS.

On the left side of the page, you can select which folder you want the document to be uploaded to. You can also use the link on the right side of the page which will allow you to use the previous functionality via the file directory.

Once you have selected the folder you want the files to be uploaded to, you'll see the available functionality to then drag and drop either one or multiple files as required. You'll then be prompted to input the file name, description, and the owner of each of the files.

Uploading to Dialog Boxes

When uploading files to one of the available dialog boxes including email, file notes, tasks & templates, you'll see that the new drag and drop files here box is available which allows you to drag your files.  Like the Client Documents section, we have also retained the previous functionality that provides you access to the file directory. You can also drag multiple files at once. If any files have been uploaded incorrectly you can simply remove them from the list of files.

The screenshot below shows you the new functionality, old file directory button & the list of files that have been uploaded or can be removed.

File Types that can be uploaded to AdviceOS

If you are experiencing issues or cannot upload a certain file to AdviceOS, it may be due to the file type that you are attempting to upload into the software.

Below we have included a list of allowed extensions for files that are accepted, please ensure you check the below list, and you are uploading files to AdviceOS from one of these file types.
